HASSLE-FREE CUSTOM TRAVEL TO CUBA! You pick the dates.
*We invite you and your friends or family to join us for a fun, safe, and educational expedition to Cuba.
*Our expeditions are authorized for American travelers under revised guidelines just released in June 2019.
*See the highlights of Cuba on a custom expedition. You decide when you’d like to visit, and an optional focus topic. For example: art & culture, history, architecture, music, dance, education, hiking, SCUBA, beach research, military history, health care, etc.
*During the core portion of our program, we will visit all the major attractions a first-time visitor would expect to see, such as the Presidential Palace Museum and Hemingway’s Country Estate. We could also visit the mountains, spend time in the countryside and stay at the beach. Sufficient free time is also authorized for you to pursue individual interests while interacting with friendly locals. NOTE–Americans are not supposed to visit Cuba as “tourists.” However, we are authorized to visit all the above and much more under U.S. Treasury Department General License Category #8: “Support for the Cuban People.” With this license, Americans and their children can legally travel to Cuba– a very kid-friendly country. All necessary documents will be provided.
We have successfully conducted our popular 10-day small-group expeditions for the past six years. We sincerely believe our programs offer the best value and flexibility. If you can organize a group of 8 or more travelers, you can pick your own dates. Our maximum group size is usually only 14 travelers, but we are willing to take larger groups. Summary of Key Concepts of Cuba Travel as of JANUARY 2020 (for details, please click on FAQ’s button).
-
1: Cuba is a beautiful, safe, and friendly country. There are numerous American historic sites in Cuba.
-
2: Cubans love talking with Americans. They closely follow our movies, TV shows, music, and sports.
-
3: For various reasons, much outdated and clearly false information continues to be written about Cuba. Most Americans now incorrectly believe it is difficult, illegal, or impossible to travel to Cuba. WRONG!
-
4: Five U.S. Airlines continue to offer scheduled commercial flights to Havana: American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, and United. You can also fly on other airlines departing from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central/South American.
-
5: Americans only need three items to legally travel to Cuba: 1) Valid Passport; 2) Tourist Card (often incorrectly referred to as a “Cuban Visa.”) You should only purchase it at the airport just before your flight to Havana; 3) General Travel License Affidavit—this one-page document can be downloaded for free from the Internet. All American adults and children easily qualify for Cuba travel with this document.
-
6: Unlike many other Caribbean islands, Cuba is safe. It is a favorite vacation spot for women traveling alone and for families from Canada and Europe.
-
7: Most U.S. credit and debit cards cannot be used in Cuba (due to U.S. restrictions), but this situation changes frequently. Some guidebooks suggest that Americans should bring alternate currencies such as Euros or Canadian Dollars. This is no longer a good idea. U.S. Dollars are now highly desired because of recent changes in currency valuations. Bring newer USD $100 bills; only convert to Cuban CUC’s as needed. You can use USD’s in most private restaurants, to buy artwork, and for most non-governmental services. All tips are especially appreciated in USD’s, so bring lots of one-dollar bills.
-
There are way too many things to see and do in Cuba. Even if you usually travel independently, I strongly suggest that your first visit should be in a smaller group, preferably less than 15 people. Otherwise, if you travel independently, you will likely waste time trying to identify and locate the most popular attractions. After you have spent a week or so with a group and an experienced guide, you will feel comfortable traveling by yourself (even if you don’t speak Spanish). You can stay in Cuba up to 30 days with your Tourist Card.
