Thanks for sharing Jame. Great photos and information
This sounds like a great idea & hope it works out. I have a Meals on Wheels client who I recently learned had a Cuban mother. His father , an American, lived there working for an oil company. This man joined navy during WW11 at age 16. Later as some kind of engineer worked on Apollo project; very interesting history-too bad he’s physically frail though mentally sharp. He would have loved such a trip when he was a bit younger.
Sorry if TMI–
Carole
Jim,
This is a terrific idea and a unique opportunity for vets!
Earthwatch is now licensed again to go to Cuba to do biodiversity studies in two natural reserves. A good friend of mine from the Wildlife Conservation Society is leading the trip. I signed up to go in October, hoping my old bones can handle it.
I will see Roberto, Toby and Manolito tomorrow in Argentina at a conference on crocodiles. We are presenting my translation of their book, hoping to fine a publisher.
